Building Blocks

SECOND GRADE

Acrylic Paint on Wood

Our class has created a work of art called Building Blocks. The dictionary defines ‘building blocks’ as essential elements on which a larger entity is based. Each one of us is a combination of our heritage, upbringing, and environment. At first glance, the artwork looks red, white, and blue. It represents us as citizens of the U.S.A. From a different angle, you will see all the countries our ancestors came from and the traditions we honor and observe. Approach the piece from another side and you will see our families’ names and the traits our families value the most. They shape who we are and what we stand for. Our traditions and values give us a strong foundation necessary to become responsible citizens.
